源自《伊索寓言》:一个上市场卖鸡蛋的女人盘算道:她卖掉鸡蛋,买一只鹅;等鹅长的又大又肥就卖出,再买一头牛......等等。她愈盘算愈兴奋,兴奋的忘乎所以而把篮子打翻了,鸡蛋也打破了。这一否定的成语又往往简略为祈使语气Don`t count your chickens!(不要打如意算盘)
例:1。The Company counted its chickens before they were hatched,and,failing to get the contract, lost heavily.这家公司尚未孵蛋先数鸡,合同没有得到,损失重大。
2。If you count your chickens before they`re hatched you may have a masty surprise.如果你乐观过早,就可能意外的扫兴。
