我以前学过: hundred/thousand 前面加基数词时不用复数形式. ( two hundred )
当它们后面接of 短语时要用复数( thousands of people)
但是我又看到了 : Many millions are trying to do so.
于是我就认为 hundred/thousand/million 前面有表示多数的形容词修饰时就可以用复数形式.
但是我今天又看到了句子: Several thousand Negroes were brought in to be sold as slaves.
这里的thousand 在several修饰下没有用复数, 这是怎么回事啊?
你能把hundred/thousand/million 什么时候可数什么时候不可数的情况罗列出来吗?
另外 The Negroes were brought in to be sold as slaves. 这句说成:The negroes were brought in and sold as slaves . 也可以吧?
