The differences between Chinese and Western culture With the development of China , the country is getting stronger and stronger. More and more people go abroad and many foreigners come to China as well. People in the world now have more chances to know each other and find out the differences between Chinese and Western culture. There are too many differences between the countries. So I will just talk about the differences from five part. First , I want to say something about diet. Chinese food is known as one of the most delicious and healthy food in the world. The dishes in the restaurants look colorful, smell nice and taste delicious. But most of the westerners like to have fast food. It seems that Chinese are more patient and careful to the cooking skill. The cook put its feeling into the dishes and send happiness to the eaters. While foreigners just concern the nutrition and pace. Second, cloths are also important. We can see many ancient cloths with gold dragons in the movie that the Chinese emperors wear. It means that dragon is the symbol of power and gold is the most proud color. Chinese are known as the descendant of dragon. In the western world, bright colours are popular to reflect their warm and untrammeled character. Western-style clothes show the figures of gentlemen. Third, the difference of education in the whole world is always a hot spot. Reciting ancient poetries, do too many difficult maths problems and so on make Chinese children not only get up but also wear glasses early. Compared with western children, their childhood are much happy. Without heavy school bags and a lot of homework, they just learn with playing. They are encouraged to imagine, discuss, experiment and do all not bad things they want to. Because of the different education, Chinese are always shy and clumsy while westerns are adventurous and creative. I have once be taught by a foreign teacher. I feel happy and fresh in the lessons. Only four to ten students sitting in a small beautiful room, the class is alive and you can say every thing you want to. Discussion and games continue in the whole class. I learned not only oral English but also how to work together and have my own opinions to a question. My homework is always interesting. For example, we were asked to make a world trip schedule and introduce or list all the important as well as dangerous problems in the world. During doing my home work, I had got so many kinds of knowledges. So I think it will be the best to put Chinese and Western education together. Fourth, it will be the manners. This is so important especially in the 21st century. I have heard a story: once a Chinese attended a birthday party. When his American friend asked him how much cakes he want, he answered as usual: just a little piece. He just want to be polite. But to his surprise, he was really given a small piece of cake. He was a little angry because of the treat. From this story, we can see the most important idea of western manners. Westerners are used to be direct and sincere, not like Chinese being implicit and “polite”. So it would be better to call ones name directly and say “thank you” when you were praised. Finally, I would like to talk about festivals. Chinese festivals come from the integrity, because it is important to farm for Chinese. Western festivals were made according their religion. So it is clear that the western people believe their god while Chinese believe nothing. Nowadays, Chinese festivals are becoming a chance to send money and gifts with each other. It is too vulgar and meaningless. But the people of the west seem to make more happiness and love in their festivals. It is interesting to find out that there are so many differences between Chinese and Western culture. And we should learn from each other to make our country stronger.
